What happens to your data in the Save Sense pilot
Save Sense records a goalie's movement during a game with an Apple Watch, so we can find saves, drops and recoveries and help you train. During the pilot you share your games with us so we can improve that detection. We never ask for your name, email or Apple ID, we never sell or share your data, and you can export or delete it from the app at any time.
What the app sends us — only after you agree
When you join with an invite code, the app shows these items and asks for your consent. You agree to all of them to take part in the pilot.
- Motion data
- Your watch's motion sensors during the game: acceleration, rotation, orientation, gravity, compass and altitude.
- Game audio
- The watch microphone's recording during the game — rink sound, used to hear pucks and contact. Not a phone call, and not recorded outside games.
- Rink location
- One location reading per game, used only to tell which rink you played at.
- Heart rate
- Your heart rate during the game, from the watch.
- Health summaries
- From Apple Health, before and after each game: sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, blood oxygen, VO₂ max, respiratory rate, training load, and your 30-day averages of each.
Each game also carries its start and end time, your catching hand, the watch model and software version, battery level, the movements the app detected, and — if added later — a link to the rink's video of that game.
What we never collect
- Your name
- Your email or phone number
- Your Apple ID
- Your device's identifiers
- Contacts, photos or messages
- Location outside a game
You are known to us only by a random ID created when you join. Our server does not record your IP address in its logs.
How we use it
- To detect and review your saves, drops, recoveries and other movements.
- To improve Save Sense's detection, using the games of everyone in the pilot. The founder labels games by hand with rink video to teach the system what each movement looks like.
- Never for advertising. Never sold. Never shared with anyone outside Save Sense.
Where it goes and how long we keep it
- Upload. Over Wi-Fi only, after a game is complete on your phone, to our server in the United States (Amazon Web Services, Oregon), over an encrypted connection.
- Server — about 3 days. The server is a relay. Once the founder's computer has copied a game and checked every file, the server deletes the game's files 3 days later. It keeps a small record that the game existed, plus your consent.
- Founder's computer — until you ask. Your games are kept there, including after the pilot ends, until you ask us to delete them.
- Your phone — yours. Your phone keeps its own copies. Deleting from us never deletes them from your phone.
Your data is not stored in iCloud.
Export and delete — from the app
- Export gives you everything our server holds about you, as one file.
- Delete a game or delete everything. We delete it from the server immediately, and from the founder's computer — together with everything made from it, such as labels, results and statistics — within 7 days. We never use it again.
- Improvements to Save Sense's detection that were already made using many goalies' games, yours included, stay in the app. They contain none of your games or recordings.
- After deleting everything the app keeps working on your own devices. To take part again, ask for a new invite.

Pilot goalies are founding members: Save Sense stays free for you, for good, including after paid plans exist.
